Beauty UK set to launch a new addition to their lip range - Glacier Gloss - a fabulous set of ten intense colours

They say

Beauty UK are set to launch their latest addition to their lip range - Glacier Gloss - a range of 10 alluring shades that coat lips in a silky shine.

The collection includes a number of fashion focused shades that will give a range of effects from sheer shine to bold luster.

The new designed tube enhances colour visibility and helps you to determine which shade is right for you.

The lowdown

Having been set five of these fabulous  new products to test I was looking forward to see how they performed. Typically lipgloss reminds me of when I was 14 trying on the chocolate and strawberry flavours in Boots but makeup has come on a long way since then. The spectrum of pinks which I sampled all had intense colour in the tube and really sophisticated packaging that made them look more expensive then £2.99.

The wand was easy to use but I did find the gloss was hard to spread as it was quite sticky initially. Once on my lips it felt quite silky and moisturised , although if I touched my lips they did feel quite sticky.

One thing you have to remember about lip gloss is that it is essentially just a gloss and any colour that may look intense in the tube pretty much disappears once on. Each shade does look very similar on, albeit there are a few that are slightly more intense, most notably Atomic Pink and Heartbreaker.

Overall a fabulous new range for the casual day when low key style is what you're after.

I give it 3/5

Available for £2.99 at all good Superdrug stores and online

Advantages
  • A fabulous new range of ten fashion focused shades
  • Silky moisturising feeling on your lips
  • Low key tinted colour for those who don't like anything too intense
  • At £2.99 it's a great bargain buy
Disadvantages
  • The colour is not as intense as it appears which for some may be a disappointment

Drop Dead Gorgeous 3D Berry Manicure set review

Drop Dead Gorgeous 3D Berry manicure is one of the all in one beauty ranges currently available in Tesco stores or online.

Included in the pack is a berry red varnish, red pearl stones and a little funnel. Now the premise of this set is fantastic, you get 3D nails in no time at all. Despite this being one of many of these sets on the market I have to say personally I don't think it works at all. Firstly the nails dry so quickly you don't have much time to apply the stones and when you miss a bit you have to apply more nail varnish to start again. I found the pearls went everywhere and when I tried to put it back into the bottle, well they say a pictures worth a thousand words!

On the bright side the berry varnish is a lovely colour and the consistency is so thick you only need one coat. Generally the set is easy to use and if you have reflexes the speed of light you can probably get a really nice 3D effect. Unfortuantely I guess I'm just a little slow off the mark.

I give it 2/5 (that's just for the berry varnish)

Get yours for £5.00 at Tesco online

Advantages
  • Gorgeous berry red nail varnish that dries really quickly
  • You only need one shade of berry varnish and your nails are completely covered
  • Great idea if you can move fast
Disadvantages
  • Messy
  • The varnish dries so quickly you have very little time to apply the pearls and get them all in the correct place
  • The pearls fall off very easily

Maybelline Fuchsia Flash Color Sensational lipstick "Molly" a perfect pink for the girl in you

The Saturday girls each released a limited edition Maybelline lipstick based on their personalities a little while back.

Maybelline Color Sensational Fuchsia Flash in 902 is Molly's interpretation of what she loves in a lipstick. This creamy, moisturising fuchsia shade is great at perking up a pale complexion. Infused with honey nectar the product works at keeping your lips soft whilst you're looking your best. It has a gorgeous vanilla scent which is really appealing.

Whilst the product looks lovely on it seems to disappear after not even a hour, and even quicker if you're eating or drinking. If you're out and about it can be a pain to constantly reapply your lipstick so the product really isn't that effective in that respect.

Fuchsia Flash is perfecting for bringing out your inner girl. The bright pink works well with most complexions and outfit choices. Whilst it doesn't have the longevity one might expect of Maybelline if you don't mind constant reapplying it's a fab product to have. I give it 3/5.

Get yours for just £7.19 at Boots

Advantages
  • Lovely bright pink shade
  • Brightens up your complexion
  • Creamy and moisturising consistency
  • Gorgeous vanilla scent

Disadvantages
  • Lipstick doesn't even last an hour and even less if you're eating or drinking

How to make cookie monster cupcakes

I don't know if you've ever seen them, but Cookie Monster cupcakes look a-m-a-z-i-n-g and I simply could not wait to recreate them!

Not only are they super cute but they're really easy to make too. To get everyone oohing and awwing just follow this simple receipe:

Ingredients:
Cupcake mix (makes 6 medium cupcakes)
50g Self raising flour
50g Caster sugar (superfine)
50g Butter or margarine
1 Egg
Butter Frosting:
250g unsalted butter
300g icing sugar
Sprinkle of vanilla
Milk – no more than 4 tablespoons
Blue food colouring
Decoration:
Dessicated coconut
Cookies (any brand)
Chocolate chips

Cupcake Sponge Recipe:
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (Electric oven | Electric fan oven 160°C | Gas Mark 4) and place paper cases into a muffin tin
  2. Using an electric whisk, food processor or wooden spoon, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  3. Add in the egg, beating it well
  4. Fold in the flour
  5. Bake in the oven for 10 – 20 minutes. After 10 minutes, check to see if the cupcakes are ready by inserting a cocktail stick into one of the cupcakes. If it comes out dry then the cupcakes are done. If not, pop the cakes back in the oven for a few more minutes. Lift the cupcakes out of the muffin tin and leave to cool on a wire rack.
Butter Frosting Recipe:
Mix the unsalted butter, icing sugar and vanilla
  1. Add the tablespoons of milk, one tablespoon at a time and stir in well
  2. Whisk for 10 minutes
  3. Take out  4-5 tablespoons of the mixture and keep in a separate bowl
  4. Add the blue food colouring to the remaining mixture. Stir well.
Decoration Recipe:
  1. Once the cupcakes are cooled, cover them in the blue butter frosting.
  2. Next make the coloured coconut.  Add a few drops of food colouring to the coconut and coat thoroughly. Spread the coconut out on wax paper to air dry for a couple hours.  To make the coconut better resemble the Cookie Monster’s furry coat, you can pulse the coconut in a food processor.
  3. Sprinkle the tinted blue desiccated coconut over the cupcakes.
  4. To make the eyes, pipe out two balls of white butter icing (use a baggie with the corner snipped off if you don’t have a pastry bag)
  5. Add a chocolate chip, with the flat surface facing upwards, to each ball of white butter frosting
  6. Use a sharp knife to make a cut for the mouth and wedge in your favourite cookie
  7. Enjoy….and try not to eat them all at once!
One thing I found was that the butter cream icing is quite hard to use for the eyes as it flops over a lot, so perhaps in future I would use a ball of normal icing.
