How to get beautiful brows without going to a salon

The Hype

The Lowdown
I do take care of my eyebrows but I can get lazy and slack a little on the old plucking sometimes. I love the idea of perfectly shaped brows and have bought many eyebrow pencils but I never really seem to keep it up as I don't think  it really makes much of a difference. The kit has pretty much everything you'll need to make your eyebrows look fabulous including two brushes, a comb, a razor to get rid of unwanted hairs, a light brown and dark brown shade, wax to tame your brows and a highlighter. It also has four handy stencils for different looks including natural, delicate, dramatic and sexy. The one unusual thing about the palette is that there is no mirror, so if you happened to get stuck without one you couldn't do much with the kit unfortunately.

I'm always a bit worried about changing the shape of my eyebrows in case I make them too thin. I chose the delicate shape as it was the closest to my eyebrow shape currently and I didn't want to go too radical in case I hated it. The shapes are fairly easy to use, simply place it on your general eyebrow shape and then shade in the brows including where there's no hair. the one difficult thing I found with the shapes is that whilst you're creating a new shape you can't get underneath to reach the hair you need to remove without taking off the stencil.There is a razor included but I wasn't particularly impressed, it didn't remove much hair and even cut my brow! The brushes are okay and are perfectly good to fill in the brows. I used the lighter brown shade and found it was a pretty good match for my hair and I didn't need to use anything else. Once I had finished shaping I used the wax to keep it in place. You can also use the highlighter which is very pigmented to highlight the eye area but I chose not to on this occasion.

I rarely do anything with my eyebrows so I was surprised by how well the new shape and definition really framed my eyes. It's a great look and it's fantastic that the kit has everything you'll need to recreate it. I give it 4/5 as it does lack a mirror.

Tried and Tested: Sequaderma Anti Ageing and Thinning Skin Cream

The Hype

The Lowdown
For the purpose of this review I am trialling Sequaderma Ageing and Thinning Skin cream. It's designed to target 15 signs of ageing including:

• Reducing the volume and appearance of wrinkles. 
• Improving skin tone  
• Smoothing skin
• Making skin firmer
• Improving elasticity
• Improving texture
• Restoring hydration
• Reducing skin sagging and sun damage 

Over 86% of those who tested the product found it was one of the best anti-ageing products they have ever used with 100% of users experiencing a reduction in the size of their wrinkles, and 80% looking between 5 to 15 years younger.

With such amazing test reviews (although these are a small minority) I was interested to know if this was a anti-ageing cream that actually had some effect. Whilst I can't say I have a really old face I do have a few signs of ageing I am keen to get rid of. The fine lines in my forehead do appear quite deep and nothing seems to get rid of them, in addition I have crease on the t-zone and fine lines around my eyes. Whilst I don't expect miracles I would hope the cream to have some effect. The cream has quite a unusual smell, almost like a mixture of dark chocolates and rose. To use I simply rubbed into my skin and it was absorbed in less than a minute. It did give a slightly sticky feel to my skin after application so would be better to use mainly at night. The next morning I didn't really notice much of a difference but it probably does need time to have a effect. I obviously don't expect the signs of ageing to disappear overnight and the back of the product states that people get results within 8 weeks. I will test the product over that time and post the results at the end.

Whilst I can't yet comment on how effective the cream is it's great that the range offer creams that target different issues specifically. I give it 3/5

Stila One Step Corrector Review

The Hype

It has a weightless, creamy formula that blends seamlessly into skin and doesn't sink or sit on top of your blemishes.

The Lowdown
I first saw this serum in the airplane sales brochure and thought it looked really interesting. I've tried quite a few primers and whilst a lot provide a silky base for foundation they don't do a lot. Whether your skin is very red, sunken or dull, or even a combination of all three, it can be really frustrating having to buy several different products to treat different issues. Stila one Step Corrector eliminates the need for that and that's fantastic. The more money you can save for future beauty treats is always a good thing.

The serum has a really interesting design with green, white and pink swirls that sit perfectly on top of each other. My skin is quite clear although I do have redness and dark spots under my eyes. I also have a pesky oily t-zone area that I'm keen on eliminating. When I applied the serum to my hand it appears in three colours and once they're mixed together the serum is very green. The product glides on really easily and absorbs into the skin with no problem. I can't say I noticed much difference in the appearance of my blemishes or fine lines after I applied the product but I assumed it would have more of a effect once I had applied my foundation. The serum gave a really firm base for my foundation and it went on with ease.

With my makeup finished I feel the effects of Stila One Step Corrector are subtle but they are visible. Whilst the before and after photos are not massively different, I did feel the fine lines under my eyes were hidden slightly and my t-zone did not feel or look as oily as it normally did (not very visible in the photos). Overall a lovely product to give your makeup a helping hand and make your finished look more polished.

The Lowdown
I was delighted to be sent these perfumes to test. As a lover of perfumes (I have around 40) I was keen to add these unique products to my collection. The designs are fabulous and really make the products stand out.

Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme is a strong seductive perfume that I think stands out due its fruity floral combination scent.

Boss Nuit Pour Femme is a lighter scent which is surprising for a perfume that appears to be designed for the evening. The notes are very delicate and the floral base is key in this fragrance. Whilst it is a gentler scent compared to the other fragrances in the range it is a lovely perfume that will be great for casual dinners out.

Boss Jour Pour Femme is the most floral scent out of the range. It is quite delicate but the essence of white flowers is quite striking whilst the citrus is not so easy to detect.

Out of the three my favourite would be Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme as it has a striking combination between a floral and fruity scent which I love. Whilst Boss Jour Pour Femme is not quite what I normally go for it is a pleasant fragrance if you want to try something new. I think Boss Nuit Pour Femme is lovely and whilst it's nothing like I'd expected it is a really nice surprise.

The Lowdown
For the purpose of the review I am testing Fuschia For Life which is a gorgeous dark pink shade. Whilst many girls go to the salon on a regular basis I prefer to save my money and do a lot of DIY nails which you probably see reflected in my nail tutorials. I love trying the latest new beauty innovations however and if this could give me salon like nails I will be very impressed. I am a bit sceptical about L'Oreal's claim that the product will last 12 days as nail varnish chips so easily but it will be great if it lasts the test of time.

The nail varnish is designed to be applied in two steps, the first is the base colour and the second the glossy top coat. Both products are joint like a dual mascara so they don't take up much room.

Even after just one coat I noticed how thick the colour was and you could probably get away with one coat, which is great for saving time. The colour is rich and really glossy even without the gel topcoat. The colour was more red then pink but it's very nice and goes great with red lipstick. Once I'd applied the top coat I loved how glossy my nails were, and they really do replicate the look of gel nails. I haven't yet tested the shelf life of the nail polish but I've read that it lasts a very long time so I will keep you updated.

A great nail polish with amazing shine and gel like finish. A salon treat without the price tag!

I love a good volume increasing product, especially if it really works. I had a bit of a problem getting the product out initially as the spray top didn't seem to work, but I applied the product by applying it directly through the roots and lengths of my hair. The spray is quite thin and didn't seem heavy on my hair when I applied it. It has a lovely fresh smell and left my hair feeling really soft. I did feel however that the next day my hair felt a bit more tangly then it normally does when using other products. I can't say there was a massive difference in the volume of my hair before and after the product but it still had a sleek finish.

A okay spray with a lovely smell that is good for keeping your hair in a good condition.

Love My Skin Anti Ageing Compact Review

The signs of ageing on your skin can make you feel sad and yearning for your youth. Whilst there are many creams and lotions on the market, very few actually have a effect despite their claims. When I was given the opportunity to try Love My Skin Anti Ageing Compact I was interested to see if the product which uses 32 LED lights would work. 

Love My Skin have produced two products, a Compact, for your forehead, cheeks and neck and a Pen which is suitable for harder to reach areas such as your eyes, nose and mouth. For the review I am testing the Compact which I will use to try and improve the pesky fine lines on my forehead.

Get whiter teeth in 14 days with Doll White tooth whitening strips

So after 14 days I have come to the end of the Doll White teeth whitening test. When I embarked on the review (see the previous review here) I mentioned how I had tried several tooth whitening toothpastes in the past that have had very little effect. From the first strip I was impressed with Doll White and how well it performed and it lived up to its expectation.

After the full course of strips I would say that my teeth were probably one shade whiter than they were before and a lot brighter. The only downside of the strips is the fact that they don't feature the ingredients on the packaging or on the website. Whilst the product doesn't contain peroxide, it does make you think what do they use to make your teeth whiter.

Overall I have to say this is a review that really did impress me. My teeth were left whiter and weren't left feeling sensitive either.
