What the brand says
Urban Decay have launched a liquid lipstick with a formula so sophisticated, its worlds apart from existing liquid lipsticks. The lipsticks have been created with a waterproof formula that Urban Decay claim will stay put until you remove it.
The new collection is available in 30 shades that have two finishes - matte and metallized. Whatever your style there's a colour for you, from bold to neutrals.
The Lowdown
The new collection of Urban Decay liquid lipsticks are very pretty with a sleek modern design. The packaging itself is really funky and I love how Urban Decay have used the colours to make the product stand out more. With claims of zero transfer (a problem I suffer with a lot) I was thinking this was going to be the holy grail of lipsticks.
When Urban Decay announced the release of the lipsticks I loved the look of Trivial and 714. Trivial is a gorgeous powdery pink with a matte finish that has a hint of shimmer. 714 which in itself has quite a random name is a medium red with a matte finish.
The lipsticks have a lip gloss style brush to apply and the colour glides on easily. The flat side to the brush gives even coverage and just one coat was enough to cover my lips. I love how pretty Trivial looks on and how shimmery my lips look even though it has a matte finish. The lipsticks dry to a matte finish pretty quickly and they don't have the best formula to layer on my lips. For example as the formula dries quite quickly if I didn't completely cover my lips it's quite difficult to touch up the bare parts later on. I definitely felt this was the case with the red shade. Trivial has quite a natural casual finish whilst 714 makes more of an impact but it's definitely not a overpowering red.
Whilst Urban Decay say the formula doesn't feel drying I do feel there was a slight element of dryness especially with shade 714. I really don't feel to the lipsticks live up to Urban Decay's untouchable claim as they faded after a few hours and were gone completely by the end of the working day.
Whilst the lipsticks do have their faults they still look lovely on and have a reasonable amount of staying power. I give the lipsticks 3/5
