I got the shock of my life today when I received a email from Halfprice perfumes

The makeup company Model Co are actually retailing a very small Danni Minogue themed makeup set for £120 ! Yes you read correctly. All the packaging contains is a trio eyeshadow, double lipstick and lipgloss, eyeliner and bronzer. All of which you could get from Natural collection at Boots for around £15.

But...good news is at hand, halfprice perfumes have a limited number of the makeup sets reduced from a hefty £120 to only £11.99. Now that's a price tag I can swallow.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off Mascara

Rimmel's innovative new mascara Scandaleyes Showoff uses a flat and ball brush to add defined volume, lift and length. The dual nature of the brush allows the user to build up real volume without clumping by using the flat end of the brush to plump lashes whilst the ball lifts and defines.

The new shaped brush was a new development for the cheaper side of the makeup market and I was eager to see what effects it would have. The mascara went on really easily and it was quick to build up volume without clumping at all. I can't really say my lashes were really lifted anymore then a traditional mascara  but they were definitely defined and volumised.

Coming in a bright purple tube the mascara was certainly eye catching, but very bulky and quite difficult to stand up on its own.

The product is great value for what it achieves and the little novely of a dual brush really adds a little something to it. I'd give it a 4/5

What's in Glossy Box June?

Being a big fan of Carmine beauty boxes I was massively saddened when they decided to join forces with Glossybox. So of course I was expecting a lot of GB with two great beauty samplers working together. I have to say GB just doesn't live up to Carmine. The samples are small, the box is so much smaller and the products mass worth is nowhere near what Carmine's was.

Inside June's box there was:

1. A Glossybox serie Exclusiv Pro beauty brush with natural goat hair to give a supersoft makeup application
2. MeMeMe Sensous nail gloss in this seasons key catwalk peach gloss
3. BM Beauty Summer Warmth Bronzer. This little pot of bronzer is perfect for adding a summer glow to your face. Shame the sample GB pot is so small!
4. Caudalie Eaux Faiches perfume. A energising and invigorating fragrance. My perfume happened to be broken completely with glass all over the box, and according to the Glossybox news feed it has happened to others as well.
5. Vichy Dermablend Ultra corrective Foundation Cream Stick which is perfect for camoflauging minor to severe skin flaws. The product received in the GB box is just a sample set of foundation not full size like the Glossy box leaflet implies.

All in all not the best and I think i'll probably be switching over to a company with better products to give subscribers.

• Unlike lipstick, with a lip balm lip liners and blotting are a big NO NO. Lip balm is perfect for that just thrown on, unstructured look, so if you're putting on lip liner it will be quite a strange contrast.

Jemma Kidd: I Glamour Volume Mascara

Coming from the Jemma Kidd makeup range I was expecting a lot from this mascara.

It comes in a simple black tube with the Jemma Kidd lettering on the lid. The wand is a pretty average sized plastic applicator with a simple brush. I had to apply the mascara several times to my top lashes and I wouldn't have said there was much volume added to them.

I found that this mascara applies very literally and does not really adhere to the lashes. What I mean by this is when removing it it's very easy to remove and in that sense is not very waterproof. On several occasions I had many black streaks left by this mascara when it got slightly damp.

On this basis I would say that the mascara doesn't live up to the standards I thought it would having the Jemma Kidd name which is a huge disappointment to me.

I'd give it 1/5
